1. Love is an important theme in this story as the son notices his father cheat on their mother and they tried to protect the mother. AS well as the father works for their family's living.
2. Love in an important theme in this story as Romeo and Juliet fall greatly in love with each other and die together and next to each other.
1. Love is not an as common theme as in romeo and juliet. And if there is any theme of love in the 'death of a salesman' it would be a family kind of love. A father-to-son kind of love. In the end Willy killed himself to give his 'life-money' (?) over to his son because he cared about him so much. Even though how much they fighted, they deeply loved each other :) But the theme of death of a salesman is more tragedy, depression, and the american dream, not much of love theme as Romeo and Juliet.
2. Love is a VERY important theme in Romeo and Juliet. It is the reason for the drastic suicides in the end, and is the main plot of the story. Romeo and Juliet sacrificed so much to be together for their love of one another. They even sacrificed their lives and the feud of their families.
Love is extremely important in the death of a salesman story as everyone loves each other. Willy loves his 2 sons, Biff and Happy. And also his wife. He has a certain connection with his wife that allows him to shout at her. She accepts it as she loves him. Also she stops Biff from getting mad about it by letting Willy shout at her. Biff also gets a little mad at his dad as he tries to kill himself many times and gets angry just to protect him. Also um... Charlie or the dad, friend/neighbour cares as he offers Willy a job.
Love is also an important theme in Romeo and Juliet as they both love each other desperately and nothing can separate them. They also have lots of help from their two, helpers the priest/frier and the nurse. They all want them to be happy together, but end up killing them. Also the parents and whole family love them as they attend Juliet's family.
I would say that Love is a fairly important theme in Death of a Salesman. This is because even though Willy’s family is constantly having arguments, they still love each other. We know that Willy cares for his son and decides to kill himself so that he can give Biff life insurance money to mend his life. But the theme of love doesn’t make up the whole story.
Romeo and Juliet is based around love It is therefore the main theme of the story. As the two main characters fall in love and marry each other, there is a clear indication of how important love is in Romeo and Juliet.
Love in Death of a Salesman is quite important. Because the father cheats on his wife and his son knows that but they both want to protect their wife and mother, also Willy dies because his family doesn’t have any money and he does that also for his son to give him the money to maybe study himself. So he kills himself because he loves his family!! In Romeo and Juliet it is really important because the story begins that they see each other and fall in love and they marry but it is forbidden love but they don’t give up to each other they sacrificed everything to be together and on the end they die because they can’t live without each other. And the family and nurse and the friar wants the best (for/of) both of them.
Love IS an important theme in both of the plays. However, it seems to be more important in Romeo and Juliet.
1) In the Death of a Salesman, it isn't love that is between two people, it's more like the love you would receive from someone that you're close to. A friend/family sort of love, rather than being IN love. Love is shown with how Willy takes his life just so that he can give Biff, and the rest of his family, his life insurance, as he sees that as being more important than himself. However, although Love does play a big part in the play, it isn't the main theme.
2) Romeo and Juliet is basically all about love. Love is definitely the main theme in this play, as it is mainly a story about two lovers who, on the night they meet, decide to get married. The type of love in this play, however, is first-sight love. Meaning, that when the two characters first saw each other, they fell in love somehow. The two characters also make a lot of sacrifices just to be together, and in the end kill themselves at the site of the other being dead, and they act as if they can't bare to part.
Love is clearly shown in Romeo and Juliet, whereas in Death of a Salesman, it's harder to find..
I think that Love plays a big role in Death of a Salesman. First of all it is all about how Willy loves his children and wife and just wants to work to support his family. Also his son out of Love doesnt tell his mum that his father cheated on him because he loves her so much and doesnt want her to feel any sort of heart pain.
1. Love (the romantic kind) isn't a strong point in Death of a Salesman. However, Willy was constantly striving to be loved by his buyers and then there was his love for Biff which played a big part aswell as his 'lover' he had in Boston. So Love did play a big part in the story, it jut wasn't overly obvious.
2. Love is an extremely important theme in Romeo and Juliet because the love between Romeo and Juliet is so strong that it drives to story on, through the tragedy and breaks the feud of the two houses. Love fills the entire story (except for the lack thereof between the two houses).
1. Love is an important theme in Death of a Salesman, because in this story, Willy goes from loving his family and his life, to being depressed and going crazy. He forgets about love and his family. Also the sons loose their love a bit towards him too, because he goes crazy. But i think without love Willy would have died before. 2.In Romeo and Juliet, love is the most important theme. Love is what kept them together and also was the reason why they died. Without love in this story, the story would have no meaning, so love is a very important theme in Romeo and JUliet.
Love: Love is a very important theme in Romeo and Juliet. It is basically the whole play. The basic moral is that love will conquer all , I mean they kill themselves out of love for one another and they still end up together. Juliet forgives Romeo for killing her cousin because she loves him. Love is one of the most important theme in Romeo and Juliet, so yes it is an important theme.
Love is not really present in Death of a Salesman, I mean the family kind of hates each other. Biff hates his dad and Willy cheated on Linda. Linda tries to hold the family together because she loves everyone, but no one else seems that passionate throughout the play. Biff does love his dad and so takes the gas tap off, and forgives Willy for cheating on Linda. Happy doesn't seem that bothered about anything, he leaves his father alone in a bathroom, and has countless flings with married women. So love is not as important a theme in Death of a Saleman
We cannot clearly see love in “Death of a Salesman” there is more hate and disappointment. Through all the story family and other characters do not feel any sympathy to each other but just negative emotions. However, you still can notice one kind of love in the "Death of a Salesman' which appears more at the end. It is a family love. Linda's love towards her husband Willy or Happy's and Biff's love to their father. You can see that Biff forgives Willy that he cheated on his mother and at the end we can clearly see how Biff is taking care of his father and trying to help him as hard as he can. This is father to son love. However we can see that love is not the main theme in this story.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Love in the Romeo and Juliet I think is the main theme. Mainly this play is just about Romeos and Juliet’s love toward each other. Everything based their love. First, Romeo and Juliet are breaking their family rules by making their secret wedding. Also when Romeo kills Juliet’s brother she forgives him because of her love. Juliet drinks very dangerous potion which made her look as she was dead while she was sleeping. By drinking that potion she knew that she would never see her family again but her feelings to Romeo were stronger. Also when Romeo heard news about Juliet’s death he could do just one thing kill himself because Romeo could not life without his love. Juliet did the same thing when she woke up and saw the dead body of her husband lying next to her. Also we can see love between Nurse and Juliet. I think that Nurse loved Juliet like her own daughter and tried to be always on her side and Juliet loved her too till the very end when nurse advised her to marry again on another person. The same situation was between Romeo and the priest. However, they never disagree and were friend till the very end. Love is extremely important in “Romeo and Juliet” story.
In "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller we see love very differently from "Romeo and Juliet".
Love in "Death of a Salesman" is an unspoken family love. The characters seen to be tip-toeing around the fact that they love each other. They don't understand each other they way they. A lot times they are frustrated with each other which gets in the way of love.
In "Romeo and Juliet" there are many examples of love. Love is a very important aspect. However more than love there are a lot of elements of lust. Their love is seen till the very end when they died of it.
LOVE 1. Is love an important theme in Death of a Salesman? Why/why not?
2. Is love an important theme in Romeo and Juliet? Why/why not?
1. In Death of a Sales man love is an important theme because if Billy did not love his mother so much then he would have gone to summer camp for his math even when he found out his father was cheating on her and because of that he ended up in a situation where he couldn’t find a proper job and it also played a part to his father death. However no one knew and could understand why he didn’t go even though he really wanted to.
2. In Romeo and Juliet love is an important theme because without love nothing would have happened. Without love Romeo and Juliet would not have fallen in love with each other. They would not have gotten married. Tybalt wouldn’t have died if Romeo didn’t love Mercutio so much and Rome and Juliet would have killed each other if it wasn’t for the pain of losing the person they loved so much.
1.) Yes, love is an important theme in "Death of a Salesman". There's a lot of love in the family. Willy loves his sons and we can really see the love between his older son and him, after they had an argument and then cried in each others arm. And the sons love their parents. The mother loves her children and she loves Willy a lot. I'm not sure if Willy loves her back though. He cheated on her and Biff found out. He was very angry with his dad. This shows that he really cares about his mother. And Happy said to his mum that he is going to marry. And in the end, when WIlly dies, everybody at the funeral is depressed, so they all loved Willy.
2. Romeo and Juliet is definitely about love. It is a story about the tragic love between them. They fall in love when they first see each other, then they meet and marry. But their love can not exist because their families are enemies and in the end, both of them die. They die for each other, because the love each other. Romeo kills himself because Juliet seems dead. The whole story is about love.
1. In death of a salesman there are themes of love, but not very much. The Lowman family do love one another, but they also have disappointed each other greatly. Willy cheated on his wife and his son found out. Willy is dissapointed in his sons for not becoming football stars, and they always seem to argue really badly.
2. Love in Romeo and Juliet is the biggest theme. Both Romeo and Juliet have decieved their family's by marrying one another, and have lied to them greatly. This show how much they must love one another. Also Juliet actually pretends to be dead, meaning shes thrown away seeing her family ever again for Romeo. Then in the final scene's, they both kill themselves and the family's become great friends, because of the love between Romeo and Juliet
1. In death of a salesman, there are themes of love but its not very important. the main part of the story that contains love, or lack of in this case, is when the son finds out his father cheated on his mother but he didn't want to ruin the remaining, small amount of love inside the family so he didn't say anything about it to anybody. There also seems to be a lack of love
2. In Romeo and Juliet, love is the biggest part of the film. Love was so strong that it made the two familys go completely against there rules to let Romeo and Juliet be together. Romeo even kills himself because of the love he had for Juliet when she was 'Dead.' But in my personal opinion, this was a silly thing to do.
1.Love in death of a salesman is not so important in love between two lovers because Willy does not much love his wife, he for sure loves her, but since it is a play/movie I did not see anything special or unusual. I think that it is more of love to your work, Willy loved his work so much and he also loved his son.
2.Love in Romeo and Juliet is the most importat thing, and it is love between two lovers. This play is about how strong love can be, it can even kill, terefore it is very important.
In death of a salesman I don't think its about 'love' but about respect and family relationship. For example when willy is cheating on his wife the son's respect changes and this is the point where the play's mood changes. It some what relates with love, because as an audience we question the loving relationship he has with his wife, if he is cheating on her.
Romeo and Juliet is based on love. Most things in the play are caused by love or the lack of love 'hate'. As the play is about two star crossed lovers and they are the main characters love takes a very important part of the story line and makes it an intressting play with the ideas of love and relationships and the audience gets to see how it progresses from first sight right up to when they die.
Love in Death of a Salesman is not really a great aspect or main part of the story but we do see that Willy and Biff have a strong bond between each other before the 'affair' we also see the love between Willy and his wife which isnt a good one as Willy always tells her to 'shut it' when he is speaking.
Love in Romeo and Juliet is a big big part in the story. Romeo first falls in love with a girl named Rosaline but immediately forgets about her when he sees Juliet and that is when their love sparks off, they get married and since they are of two different houses it shows their love in a different way and in secret. that is untill the end when Romeo kills himself cause he can not bear to be without the love of his life, then Juliet does the same thing showing how strong their love was.
In 'Death of a Salesman', love is not an important theme from the story. Although there are a few scenes where we see that different people love people in different ways. For example, Willy treats his wife quite badly by shouting at her and sometimes hitting her to get her to do something, or to get her to stop talking, but on the other hand, Linda takes this and does what Willy tells her too. Also, Willy had been cheating on his wife, so that is a theme of love, but Love is not a main theme in this story.
In 'Romeo and Juliet', love is definitely and important theme and it is also definitely the main theme. Almost every single thing that happens in the story is about love. The story shows that you do not know who you really love until you see them, and we know this because Romeo was sure that Rosaline was the love of his life, until he saw Juliet. And the same goes for Juliet, except she didn't love Paris at all, but immediately fell in love with Romeo. Also, we are shown how strong their love is because they can't forget about each other even though they are from different families, and Juliet even risks drinking a potion to 'kill' herself, just so she can be with Romeo. Also, we see that love is an important theme in the story because Romeo kills himself when he hears that Juliet 'died', and Juliet kills himself when she hears that Romeo died.
I think Love does have some sort of purpose in Death of a Salesman, what with Willy cheating on his wife and his son not going to College. I don't think it is a very large element in this story, not as much as morality is.
I think that Romeo and Juliet's main theme is actually love. Although it is a very tragic story, this all happens because they love each other. Love at first sight, so much that they get married the next day. Love is almost surely the main theme in Romeo and Juliet.
In Death of a Salesman, I would say that love is quite an important theme in Death of a Salesman, only because for the fact that he was willing to work hard for his entire life for his family to have a good living, even though his wife and Howard recommended he took a rest from work. I think it deals with love because even though Biff and Happy weren’t too fond of their father anymore, they still loved him dearly and wanted nothing to happen to them, and same goes for Willy’s feelings towards his two great sons and his wife. It seems as though Willy would do anything for them, despite all the fights they had.
In Romeo and Juliet, it is very obvious it deals with love. For one thing, Romeo is a boy who is not much of a fighter, but more of the type that ‘falls in love’ with a girl nearly every week if he is rejected by one. This also deals with the theme ‘love’ because it is about two lovers who fall in love at first sight, and try doing their at-most best to be able to be together, but in the end they die thinking one another is dead, because they couldn’t live a life without each other as their love for each other was so strong.

ReplyDeleteI think that Romeo and Juliet's main theme is actually love. Although it is a very tragic story, this all happens because they love each other. Love at first sight, so much that they get married the next day. Love is almost surely the main theme in Romeo and Juliet.
Love
ReplyDeleteIn Death of a Salesman, I would say that love is quite an important theme in Death of a Salesman, only because for the fact that he was willing to work hard for his entire life for his family to have a good living, even though his wife and Howard recommended he took a rest from work.
