Today, we will begin working on the creation of poetry videos using Windows MovieMaker. Your video will include an audio recording of you reciting the poem along with appropriate accompanying visual elements. Before beginning, take a look at some of these videos created by some former students from the previous set of poems.
Now, please go to our list of poems and choose the poem for which you will create a video. You may choose one of the four poems with which we have already worked closely, the poem for which you created a poster, or any of the other poems. Please give yourself a full ten minutes to look through and consider each of these poems before making your choice.
When you have chosen, please write a paragraph about what you imagine your video will look and sound like. Try to think not only in terms of specific images that you may use but also in terms of the general "feel" that you will be attempting to establish. Please submit this paragraph as a comment here.
When you have finished with your planning paragraph, you can get started. I know that a number of you have used MovieMaker before, and it is not difficult software, so helping each other should allow us to do everything we want. You will be working on this project largely outside of class, so be sure to send yourself not only the MovieMaker project itself (the .mov file), but also all the associated files (the JPGs, etc.). Please record the audio of you reading the poem at home where you have appropriate silence and time.
Deadlines:
Send me the MP3 Recording of you reading your poem before Friday, March 26 (the last day before break). I expect that many/most of you will send these long before this.
The full project is due before Friday, April 16. When you are finished working on your project, click File > Publish and publish your video as an .AVI file. (Don't worry if this sounds confusing. I'll show you how.) I expect that many/most of you will be done long before this deadline too.

I have chosen the poem “Marrysong” by Dennis Scott. I believe that my video will involve many different pictures and a soft quiet music. I imagine the video to be very interesting as it seems like an interesting poem itself. I should be enjoyable to watch and the outcome should be well done. I look forward to starting it.

I have decided to use the poem Report to Wordsworth. i think that this poem has a lot of feeling and is very deep. i will be reading it softly and slowly as it is about how the world is changing. i will use pictures and maybe add some music.

ReplyDeleteI choose Full Moon and Little Frieda .
The video is going to look like, the pictures of the moon and the main thing what is in the poem is that there are a lot of sounds in the poem and it is about the moon. So when she cries’s in the poem like she is shouting “moon, moon” I will do a loud song behind it and I don’t really know what kind of music. It is a little but really nice/interesting poem.

ReplyDeleteMy video:
ReplyDeleteI chose the poem ‘Report to Wordsworth’ by Boey Kim Cheng.
The video will mostly consist of pictures and a few effects (if they turn out to fit well), and I will probably put a song in the background. I think that this poem has a deep meaning and needs to be heard, because it’s about how the world is ‘dying’ and how pollution is killing it. I hope it will turn out okay.

I chose On the Grasshopper and the Cricket by John Keats. I think I will make it slow in the beginning, but faster as it starts to talk about fun and summer. If I can find appropriate music, I might add some but I don’t think I’ll add some if I cannot. Hopefully I can get a relaxed, winterry feeling and a fun, warm summery part. Maybe, If I can find a frost effect, that melts then it would look better.
ReplyDeletePoem; Flower-Fed Buffaloes.
ReplyDeleteI may say this poem in a medium pace as, the Flower-Fed Buffaloes does not go well fast or slow so medium seems like a good choice. I may add music I don’t know yet as I don’t have a certain piece of music to go with the poem yet but that may change at a later date. I like this poem for the fact that it deals a lot with nature and I will be using that to show a deeper meaning of what the poem is. I probably will use effects that are like nature, say a windy type of transition but as I said it may change at a later date.
ok i have chosen 'So, We'll Go No More A-Roving'
ReplyDeletei find it interest and i will read it with pation in a slow pace.
as for music i think i will use the assasins creed 2 theme song because it would go well with this poem :)

The poem I would like to do it on is ‘On The Grasshopper and The Cricket’.
ReplyDeleteI would want my video to have good effects when it comes to pictures fading in and out. I would also like it to have relaxing colors that are not so bright. Colors like brown, green, and other things relating to nature and grasshoppers. I also wouldn’t put much pictures for every single word, but try finding just one that would relate to a whole line or 2. I would also like to have some sort of calming, background music to make the presentation a little bit more interesting to watch/listen to.
I choose to do Sonnet 29. I think the video will be made of clips from other films , cartoons , animated things. It will have a background track. It will be a sad video because the poem has a sad feeling about it.

Report to Wordsworth Video Ideas:
ReplyDeleteI am doing ‘Report to Wordsworth’. My video will have pictures in it for ever line or maybe twice a line like we were shown in other videos, and also the picture will each have a moving effect or some change of color to make it more interesting. I also want to include some kind of music in it. The music will probably be something quiet and flowing, and not heavy metal or something.
I am going to do:
ReplyDeleteSo, We'll Go No More A-Roving
I think this would be best show using Macromedia Flash to create a stick animation as the poem is about movement

The poem I have chosen is “Report to Wordsworth” by Boem Kim Cheng.
ReplyDeleteThe voice reading the poem should be sad and in some parts angry. The pictures in this video would be of nature like trees, lakes, grass, flowers, but also with other things like waste, cities, human, smog and everything that destroys nature. The background music would be slow and sad. Probably a piano playing or something like that. I hope it will be good.

This is my plan
ReplyDeleteMy poem ? Full moon and little Frieda
Put some pictures forming the basics of the poem , that fit the rhythm . I think maybe images that fit the lines. Maybe some music .. and a recording of the poem spoken .
But I think if I use lots of images of the moon !!
I would like to do the poem “Amends”. I think that I would use a quiet music in the background, similar to a windy sound. I would use a series of pictures, and maybe a video clip mixed in there. I would use pictures that change frequently, after every line maybe for example. I would use relaxing music, and various windows movie maker effects.
ReplyDeleteThe poem i will do is "Lament" by Gillian Clarke. The poem has a lot of visual imagery and beautiful description so here i will put some effective pictures e.g nature, soldiers, sea, animals and anything else mentioned in the poem, though probably not every single word. Just the imagery. I will also have some background music. Probably relaxing, fluent but also a bit emotional/dramatic music. I will also speak in a low soft voice but also very clear so that people will be able to hear what i'm saying not only seeing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI will also use some cool, but smooth transition effects in the movie me using iMovie on my macbook.
I chose Lament because it has so much meaning in it about the nature but also people and the animals in the world, and the whole sadness, grivance there is. It would definitely work effectively with all the pictures in the movie/presentation we will make. I also wanted to choose something different than most of the others were choosing, and this one i found very fascinating and beautiful. But you never know, there might be someone else who chose the same one :)
I have decided to do ‘On the grasshopper and cricket’. I’m going to use quiet, relaxing music. I also might include video as well as pictures. I’m not sure how often they’ll occur. But they will suit the lines. I will try to make my narration clear and accurate.
ReplyDeletePlan:
ReplyDeleteThe poem which I would like to do is Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold. In my video I will have a lot of images portraying landscapes which the writer speaks of. I will have a hushed voice to complement the sound of the sea of which the writer also speaks of. I will not have any background music as I would like to have my voice as the music. The movie will also be very flowing and continues.

Report to Wordsworth.
ReplyDeleteI will put this sonnet into video. I think that I will include some pictures about the nature and how people polute it. “You should be here, Nature has need of you” I will put someone on this place and show to that person that he/she must help the Nature. Show that the Nature really need help by putting video or pictures of these lines “the flowers are mute, and the birds are few in a sky slowing like a dying clock.” I think I should do this video in dark coloures. Put some music on the background. And i will do some cool effect.

I would like to do time as it has an interesting pace with love and full of passion. Also i can add some interesting pictures adn emotions too it and it seems like a very interesting poem to experement with..
ReplyDeleteThe poem i decided to work with is "First love" by John Clare.
ReplyDeleteI think that even though it is said by a male, i like it a lot, therefore i don't really care about it much.
I thought of using some pictures and videos of beauiful girls, and some flowers, so basically a love theme.
